Who provides the cover?

Climatesure is an Introducer Appointed Representative of NJ Heritage Partnership Limited who administers the travel insurance policies, which are underwritten by Axa Insurance UK. Both NJ Heritage Partnership and Axa Insurance UK are authorised and regulated by the FSA.

What is an excess?

Most sections of the policy carry an excess. This is the first amount of any claim that you will have to pay. It is applied on per person per section basis. The excess under the Medical Expenses section will be reduced to nil if you have used a form European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to reduce your medical expenses claim.

What is a pre-existing medical condition?

Any medical condition you have, or have had, for which you are taking prescribed medication or are waiting to receive, or have received treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) within the 2 years prior to buying the insurance.

Do you insure people with pre-existing medical conditions?

Yes, we are able to cover most pre-existing medical conditions, however, some conditions may be excluded or require the payment of an additional premium. If you have a pre-existing medical condition then simply answer the medical underwriting questions in the online quote process or telephone us on 0845 600 3076 between 09:30 and 17:30 hours, Monday to Friday.

Am I covered for pregnancy?

Yes, you are covered for pregnancy or childbirth unless you are expected to give birth within eight weeks of the start of the trip, during the trip or within eight weeks of the end of the trip.

What is the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)?

If you are travelling to countries within the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland you are entitled to health care through the public system if you become ill or injured while on a temporary stay there. We strongly advise you to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) application from the Post Office. You can also apply either online through www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or by telephoning 0845 606 2030. The EHIC will entitle you to benefit from these reciprocal health care arrangements.

What is the single article limit?

It is the maximum amount that can be paid for any single item, set or pair of items. This amount is calculated after any deduction for wear and tear and the policy excess. The single article limit is £250 under Gold cover, £200 under Silver cover and £150 under Backpacker cover.

Is there a limit to the number of days I can be abroad on an annual policy?

The annual policy allows you to travel as many times as you like during the policy period. However, you are only covered for a maximum of 31 days under Silver cover and 60 days under Gold cover for each individual trip.

Can you insure non-United Kingdom residents?

No, This policy is only available to You if You are permanently resident in the United Kingdom and registered with a Medical Practitioner in the United Kingdom.

Are One Way Trips covered?

Yes, but all cover ceases as soon as you pass Immigration Control at your final destination.

Are my belongings covered whilst in my car?

Items are only covered in certain circumstances - please refer to the policy wording. In any event money, cash and valuables are not covered whilst in an unattended motor vehicle.

Can children be insured if they are travelling on their own?

When the child is insured as a member of a family on one of our annual multi-trip policies, they have to be accompanied by one of the insured adults on the policy.

Is scuba diving covered?

We cover scuba diving up to 30m(100ft) at no additional premium but please ensure that you ask that your policy be endorsed to show the additional cover, as some countries will not allow you to dive with it. Can children travel independently on Annual Multi-Trip policies?

Yes, but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Can I cancel my travel insurance?

You can cancel your travel insurance policy within 14 days of purchase and get a full refund providing you have not travelled or made a claim.

Are there any age restrictions on the insurance?

Yes, the maximum age limits are as follows:

Single Trip - 74 years at the date of purchase
Annual Multi Trip - 64 years at the date of purchase
Backpackers - 39 years at the date of purchase
